Insect screens · Roof windows
Open roof window. Protected room.
Roof windows open inwards and move within the window reveal. Insect screens are therefore usually fitted on the room side and need to take account of window operation, solar shading and interior finishes together.

Roof window solution
The roller insect screen is the all-round solution.
The mesh runs in side guides and can be opened or closed as needed. This allows the roof window itself to be operated independently. Frame and combination solutions are available for specific requirements.
Options directly on this page
Three types of solution, depending on the window and how it is used.

01 · flexible
Roller insect screen for roof windows
The most widely used solution: the insect screen can be opened or closed independently of the roof window. Side guides keep the mesh securely in place, even when there is air movement.
- can be opened fully when required
- convenient one-handed operation possible
- suitable for many common roof windows
- a choice of mesh types

02 · Framed solution
Sliding frame
An alternative framed solution where the structural conditions, the window reveal or a preference for a particular mesh make it suitable. The specific installation conditions determine the guide system and operation.
- sturdy framed solution
- made-to-measure manufacture
- mesh to suit protection requirements
- installation adapted to the window reveal

03 · Combined
Two-in-One
The Two-in-One solution combines insect protection with additional privacy or blackout screening in one coordinated unit. Both functions can still be used independently.
- insect protection and blackout screening can be combined
- functions can be operated separately
- take reveal depth and window movement into account
- accurate measurements required

04 · Coordinated appearance
Colours & mesh
Particularly indoors, the frame should blend in as harmoniously as possible with the window reveal and roof window. The mesh type can also be selected to suit visibility, pollen levels or demanding conditions.
- frame colour to match the interior
- special colours depending on the version
- balance visibility and pollen protection
- choose the mesh before ordering
Installation on roof windows
The internal reveal is the key installation area.
The insect screen system is fitted on the room side of the window opening. The specific solution depends on the reveal depth, the window’s movement and any existing solar shading.
01
Roller insect screen in the internal lining
NEHER roof window roller insect screens can be secured within the internal lining using support components and spring pins in the side guide rails.
02
Side guides
The guides keep the mesh neatly in position, even when installed at an angle. The reveal and the clearance needed for movement must therefore be measured precisely.
03
Removable for cleaning
With a suitable design, the roller insect screen can be unhooked and refitted in a few simple steps, keeping the roof window accessible.
04
Two-in-One
Compatible insect screening and solar shading systems can be combined in opposing cassettes. Space requirements and operating clearances are planned together.
Planning details
Consider the reveal, operating clearance and solar shading together.
Roof windows have moving components on the room side. We therefore record not only the window dimensions, but also the reveal depth, the sash’s range of movement and any existing privacy screening or solar shading.
Ensure the roof window can be opened fully
Measure the reveal and guides precisely
Take existing solar shading into account
Match the frame colour and mesh to the room
