Insect screens · Doors

Easy access. Insects stay outside.

Patio and balcony doors are used frequently. This makes stability, smooth operation and the right opening mechanism more important than for a fixed window.

Doorways

The right door solution depends on how the doorway is used and the space available.

A rarely used side entrance needs a different solution from a family’s patio door or a wide lift-and-slide door system.

PLANIGRAPH takes into account how often the doorway is used, the opening width, the threshold, space requirements, and children and pets – then selects a hinged frame, a double-action door, a sliding screen system, a pleated screen or an electric roller screen accordingly. The frame colour and mesh are also matched to everyday use.

Five solutions for different doorways.

Hinged insect screens for patio and balcony doors

01 · classic

Hinged frame

A sturdy screen door solution for balconies, patios and side entrances. It opens like a normal door and is particularly easy to use.

  • sturdy frame construction
  • ergonomic handles
  • pet flaps can be integrated, depending on the model
  • heavy-duty mesh available for demanding use
Double-action insect screen door

02 · frequent use

Double-action door

Ideal if you frequently go out onto the terrace or balcony. The door moves easily in both directions and closes reliably afterwards.

  • operable from both sides
  • convenient for frequent access
  • highly practical for everyday use
  • also an appealing option for families with children or pets
Sliding insect screen system for wide openings

03 · large openings

Sliding systems

For large terrace openings and lift-and-slide doors. The panel slides sideways and requires no swing clearance inside the room.

  • ideal for wide doorways
  • smooth sideways operation
  • minimal space required
  • multi-panel solutions available
Pleated insect screens for doors

04 · compact

Pleated screen

The mesh folds together to the side. This makes the system particularly suitable where there is little space for a hinged panel.

  • folds away to the side
  • minimal space required
  • also suitable for wider openings
  • slimline versions available depending on the installation conditions
Electric roller insect screens for doors

05 · convenient

Electric roller screen

A motorised solution for large openings, frequently used openings or those designed with convenience in mind. It can be operated via a push button or a suitable control system.

  • no need to open the screen manually
  • for selected large openings
  • convenient for everyday use
  • plan electrical connections and controls early on

Pets & appearance

Dogs, cats and frame colour all need to be considered when planning.

A frequently used patio door needs to suit the household. For cats and dogs, tougher mesh and – where the door design allows – integrated pet flaps can be useful. At the same time, the frame should blend as discreetly as possible with the door and façade.

Insect screen door with a cat or dog flap

Special solution · Pets

Cat & dog flap

With suitable door systems, a pet flap can be integrated directly into the insect screen. This allows pets to pass through without having to open the entire door each time.

  • choose a flap size that suits your pet
  • tough mesh to withstand claws and frequent use
  • determine the position and passage height when taking measurements
  • particularly useful for hinged screen solutions
Frame colours for insect screen doors

Design · Colour

To match your door and façade

The insect screen frame need not look out of place. The colour and finish are selected to match the existing door, window profile or façade.

  • common standard colours
  • custom colours available depending on the system
  • wood-effect finishes where available
  • choose the colour when measurements are taken

Installation on doors

Plan the passageway, threshold and fixings together.

Door systems are subject to significantly greater forces than window systems. Fixings, opening direction, the floor connection and any existing roller shutter or sliding door mechanisms are therefore considered together.

01

Screw fixing to the installation frame

The traditional, robust fixing method for hinged and double-action doors where the substrate and available space allow mechanical fixing.

02

Adhesive fixing for suitable variants

Selected door systems can be fitted without additional screw holes. This requires a suitable substrate and bonding surface, as well as approval for this fixing method for the system concerned.

03

Tracks & frames

Sliding systems require precisely aligned tracks. The threshold, drainage, opening width and existing sliding door are also assessed.

04

Pleated / roller insect screen with guides

Side profiles, the cassette and a floor connection that is as low as possible determine ease of use and accessibility. For electric roller insect screens, the power supply and controls are also planned.

Everyday practicality

For doors, the right design depends on how they are used.

Even the most attractive solution is the wrong one if it gets in the way of everyday access. That is why we check the direction of movement, threshold, access routes, pets and available space before selecting a system.

Check the clear opening width and opening direction

Keep thresholds and trip hazards to a minimum

Take children, cats and dogs into account

Choose mesh to suit the level of use and desired visibility
